Traditionally doing the dance on the floor of entertainment |
The
future looks bright for Khaya Arts as the group is set to celebrate
its 5th anniversary at Bulawayo's Rainbow hotel on the 3rd of

The group is the brainchild of the evergreen Future Dube and was established in September 2011.
The group is the brainchild of the evergreen Future Dube and was established in September 2011.
Future started as
a member of Simunye but things fell a part as the management
differed in visionary drive.
It is from then that he decided to
initiate his own project that will ensure the achievement of his
Futurism.
Since then the group has exerted its prowess and
energies to creating informative and entertaining productions
involving dance,music, and theatrics .
As a member of Simunye Arts
Association Khaya Arts has been seen in different places that include
Eziko Theatre, Intwasa Arts Festival in Bulawayo ,Rainbow Hotel and
many other vicinity across the country.
Those
who have watched the group's electrifying performances will agree that
Khaya Arts has lived up to its mission which is coined as "to
provide quality entertainment for the people".
Above
all it has also demonstrated how best can arts industry thwart
unemployment by being the job provider itself. The
youthful group is a marvel to watch and worthy paying for. Whether
they are dancing to prerecorded music or coming up with their own gumboot
or going Tswana highway dance, the audience is always left in
stitches.
The high tempo , classically choreographed contemporary
dance blended with traditional routines will definitely set you off
your seat and trigger your ululating key. The group's Director Mr
Future Dube spoke about contribution the arts is bringing to the
people's lives and as a tool of telling a real story in a way that
entertains which makes the message to quickly get across in people's
minds. He spoke about economic challenging times they have gone
through and encouraged people that it takes a strong heart to survive
in arts when faced with harsh economic conditions.
"We are celebrating
five years of quality entertainment, hard work, community engagement;
five years of defeating drug abuse among youth, five years of
discouraging early child marriages, five years of socially relevant
performances and half decade of self discipline. Mostly we cherish
our survival since we went through harsh economic conditions at our
macro environment but remained socially correct and relevant."
Mr
Dube said the day running under the theme "Khaya Arts@5” is
expected to be thrilling and the group will be happy to be flanked by
its major partners.
"Managing
to have partners like Orap, legal Resources
Foundation;Mac,NAC,Victory Siyanqoba,Abameli;Rainbow Hotel,Dabela
Music projects;Bulawayo City Council,Nacz,Zimbabwe National
Traditional Dancers Association, Ministry of Education and South
African based Usungulo Arts Consultancy is not a joke" continued
Mr Dube.
The
line up of artists to battle it out on stage include amongst others
the following: Prosper Tshuma, Kirah, Snipers and South African based
Maskandi group Abafana baka Godlwayo- Ezika Dibi is expected to be
the toast of the day.
Commenting on the event Thabani Sibanda (Dibi)
said "I am glad that I will finally meet my fans right at
home, they have been hearing about me from across borders and now its
time I cut those borders. Offcourse I will be there to support khaya
Arts who have demonstrated determination but i will also be carrying
my CDs going for $5,00 each so that I leave something for my fans
including the fireworks I will set on stage."
Dube
also appealed to fellow partners and stakeholders to donate towards
the group's projects to ensure its sustainability and consistence
.Currently they want to purchase a kombi and to upgrade the office.

set its foot wrong. No wonder why soon after turning five years the
group will date Mzansi for a show set for Johannesburg vicinities in
September. The Jozi based booking agents confirmed that everything
